چکیده

The decay of nano-islands on the surface of a Au(111) electrode, in contact with 50 mM sulfuric acid aqueous solution under an applied potential in the range of 0.15–1.2 V, has been investigated using electrochemical atomic force microscopy (EC-AFM). The results are compared with those previously obtained for Au(100). With either orientation, it is found that the area of the top layer of multi-layered islands decreases linearly with time at any applied potential. It was also found that the decay rate, defined as the rate of decrease of the number of atoms in the top-layer of the islands per second, increases with the magnitude of the applied potential. Further, the decay rate of the top layer of the islands on Au(111) is almost the same as that on Au(100). q 2003 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Covalent Modification of Glassy Carbon Electrode with an Imidazolium based Methoxysilyl Ionic Liquid Nanoparticles: Application in Determination of Redox System

Glassy carbon (GC) is the most commonly used carbon-based electrode in the analytical laboratory. Because of the high background current and low electrode response, modification of this electrode can be done by various materials and techniques. An ionic liquid (IL), 1-methyl-3-(3-trimethoxysilyl propyl) imidazoliumbis (trifluoromethylsulfonyl) imide, was covalently cross linked onto the GC surf...

Electrochemical metal deposition on top of an organic monolayer.

Electrochemical deposition of metals (platinum or gold) only on top of an organothiolate, 1,4-benzenedimethanethiol (BDMT) or hexanedithiol (HDT), self-assembled monolayer (SAM) on a Au(111) substrate was achieved by electrochemical reduction of PtCl(4)(2-) or AuCl(4)(-) ion, which was preadsorbed on one free thiol end group of the dithiol SAM formed on a Au surface, in a metal-ion-free sulfuri...

Synthesis of Unsymmetrical Ethers Catalysed by Polyvinyl Sulfuric Acid & PVSA / Nano RH SiO2 as a Novel Solid Acid Nanocomposite

The methodology involves preparing polyvinyl sulfuric acid as a solid acid by simple mixing ofpolyvinyl alcohol with chlorosulfonic acid in CH2Cl2 at room temperature. The catalytic ability ofthe solid acid was investigated for the facile conversion of benzylic alcohols to the unsymmetricalethers with aliphatic alcohols in the presence of the solid acid. Results show that the solid acid isan ap...
